Boise State University’s campus news Web site Update highlighted the Snake River Plains (SRP) Herbarium’s collaboration with the Consortium of Pacific Northwest Herbaria to digitize their collection.
The Snake River Plains (SRP) Herbarium is a museum of plant, fungal, and lichen specimens supervised by Director Jim Smith. The SRP Herbarium currently houses more than 50,000 records specializing in specimens collected around Idaho but also housing species from around the world.
The SRP herbarium received funding to digitize their collection through the National Science Foundation (NSF) in collaboration with 60 other herbaria located in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and the Yukon. The Consortium of Pacific Northwest Herbaria was founded in 2007 to join together regional herbaria, provide an online specimen portal, and provide information about the flora of the Pacific Northwest.
