iDigBio's new User Engagement for Public Participation in Digitization Working Group is planning an iDig'dBio@ Imaging Blitz at Florida State University's Robert K. Godfrey Herbarium on Saturday, September 13. The goal of the blitz is to engage volunteers in the imaging of 3000 specimens over 8 hours and, later, the transcription of those specimens on Zooniverse's Notes from Nature public engagement website, while increasing public understanding of the importance of specimens. The working group is building iDig'dBio@ Blitz Kits that can be repurposed for common digitization activities by any institution. To register for one or both of the two four-hour shifts (8-noon; 1-5) , visit this Doodle page. We strongly encourage those who wish to participate to register so that we can send out last-minute logistical information (e.g., parking information) to them. We plan to provide a water bottle with the event logo on it to each person who participates in at least one 4-hour shift.
