What do I need this for?
Registering with idigbio.org provides you with access to three iDigBio systems.
- idigbio.org is a Drupal CMS that gives you access to such things as forums, documents, news reports, and forms.
- idigbio.org/wiki for wiki content
- idigbio.org/portal : our specimen portal which currently provides collection registration information and to be expanded upon features for idigbio.org account holders.
Does this mean I have three logins?
No, you have one standard user name and password combination. Behind the scenes, the authentication service provides your browser with an OpenID that it uses to log into our relying services. You never have to know your assigned OpenID. You can manage your login accounts basic information by going to: https://www.idigbio.org/login/account
Do I have an OpenID and can I use it on other sites?
Yes, you do have an OpenID, however the service for the time being is only guaranteed to work for authentication between iDigBio services. You can attemp to use your private idigbio.org OpenID with external openID relying parties but no guarantees can be made as to wether it will work with an unverified service. Your OpenID is https://www.idigbio.org/login/id/{your_login}
How does this work?
Go to https://www.idigbio.org/login/accounts/new to register with idigbio.org. Once your account is created you will be sent an email to activate it. This login will be all you need to access all our services (Drupal, Wiki and Portal).
Note: Each service has its own account management interface and should be used accordingly to manage those service's features.
How do I reset my password?
Go to https://www.idigbio.org/login/account/reset
How do I view my account info?
Go to https://www.idigbio.org/login/account
I already have an OpenID, can I use it to log in to idigbio.org?
No, while our internal authentication service is based on a limited OpenID service our relying party clients are not open to external registration. This allows us to keep better control over spam registration.
