Tagging is the act of assigning a word or phrase to a piece of content to makes the content easier to find later. Assigning good tags is an art, and one with which any librarian will be familiar. Fundamentally, tags are in index into a body of knowledge, expressed in words and phrases that categorize and summarize the knowledge.
